Future Asperations
Future Aspirations
_______________________________________________________
After Barista my friends and I went to the street and we saw this man named Andrew Patterson and he works as a radio D.J. He was talking about what we might do in the future.
After he had a little talk he showed us a video of a college kid named Iavana that went to Manurewa college. He was talking about how he wasn’t very good at college and he didn’t know what he was good at and then he found out that he was good at talking and doing speeches. He was quite funny. Iavana got to speak for a lot of people and company’s and he could talk really fast. I thought that was quite impressive.
As soon as the video finished the man Andrew Patterson came back up and introduced a man that used to work on the show “ What Now” and his name is Anthony Samuels. He was telling us about how he is learning maori. There was a word he told us in maori it was “ you are amazing”. Anthony Samuels showed us some funny photos of him when he was on what now and he told us a funny story about a man and a ferret.
Then there was a man named Paula and he said he was a “good swimmer” but the most important speech he gave us was “ i’m not scared of you not succeeding but i’m scared that you're not going to try. Paula was another one that was so funny. Paula told us a story of when he was our age i was a story about when he almost died swimming in a pool. When Paula was our age 12 and 13 they had a pool at their school and he was very tall and his school mates were really small so he told us that he always use to run in the water because he could touch the ground, so he use to go into competitions and one day they were competing in an olympic size pool and he didn’t know how big the pool was so he went to walk and he couldn’t touch the floor and he was drowning.
And there were heaps of people that were so inspirational. When they all finished their own speeches
Good Friends
Good friends are people who are by your side 24.7. They are nice and caring they help and the defend you from the people who aren't nice friends. Some people don't know what a good friendship is. A good friendship is when you are a nice person you are to your friends, well it doesn't have to be you friend you need to be nice too it can be anyone in need of a friendly talk.
So there is a girl named Mary, imagine her with all of her friends. They're playing, laughing and having fun because her friends are nice to her and they are real friends to one another. Then imagine a girl named Ashlee when she is with her friends she does not laugh play and she does not have a smile on her face, she is like that because her friends are not nice to her and that is what I am trying to tell you.
When you have nice friends in school or out of school it will make your life even easier. And did you know that having good friends can help you bond with other people and it can even help you grow a bigger bond with your family too. When you come to think of it you can have quite a good bond with your friends and that is very special.
A lot of people become friends when they are baby’s then it is pre-school and some people are still friends and then it is kindergarten and it just keeps going on and on and some friendships go on until they one of them are very old. I would love to have friends that are so special like some people with a friendship and relationship that never stops. Well yeah some people fight but sometimes that brings our relationship closer.
So do you understand now what a good friendship is. And if you can't find a good friends then just keep on looking for the right friend remember there are millions of nice people around that will want to be you friend. Remember that good friends are the ones who can put a smile on your face. Here is a little tip, find the ones who stay by your side 24.7 there the special kind of friend that not a lot of people have.

My Kitchen Rules .....
This week is week 4 and it is term 4 and we have started on our weekly quizzes. This week I thought I might do a blog post about the program MKR. MKR stands for My Kitchen Rules. It is on T.V 2.
I hope you enjoy my blog post about My Kitchen Rules.
My Kitchen Rules was so cool but it was tough. I watched the finals and they announced the winners and they were Nina and Belinda. I was so proud of them but I wanted Aaron and Heather to win because they made really nice sea food and food from the islands. Nina and Belinda made organic and earthy foods.
All of the contenders were so nice and they all made an amazing effort but only one team could win. I watched every episode of My Kitchen Rules and it was so close with all of the points. If I got to choose a winner I would of chosen Aaron and Heather because they made nice food.
When I watched the grand final When Nina and Belinda and Aaron and Heather competed against each other it was so close Nina and Belinda came first BUT Aaron and Heather came second and just lost by 1 point. After the judge's announced the winners Ben and Garret said to Aaron and Heather "You have done an awesome job that is why you can come into my restaurant and teach my workers your Pacific food"

At the Auckland museum
This week we went to the Auckland Museum because the year 8's were gone on camp.
Hopping out of the bus we entered the Auckland museum. As we went into the museum we saw a cafe' and a desk. Then we saw people in uniform and I am onto talking about school uniform, yes it was the workers at the Auckland museum.
Shortly after that we had to sit down on the floor or the chairs and listen to the rules they were telling us. Excitedly we herd our teachers say time for lunch so we walked up two flights of stairs to the eating room ready for a quick snack.
Next we went back down to the lounge/ cafe and put our bags in some lockers. We got our task sheets and headed off to the Maori and Pacific galleries and had a good loo at the traditional weapons plants and trees and more. When we finished with our work sheets we got to have free time at the museum. ten minutes after we came back from the Maori and pacific galleries we went to the volcano house and trust me it is scary.
Soon after that we went to the domain and we got to take photo's of the wild life that we found and it was beautiful. Then it was time to go back to school.

Empathy :)
Imagine the world without empathy we would be living in horror or some people not living at all .But Some people don't know what empathy is. For the ones who don't know it is when someone helps another person out if they are sad , For example if someone is getting bullied another person might come along and help them out because they know how they are feeling.
How can you show empathy to one another ?, Well you can start by being nice and kind to the person who is upset and terrified. Also you can help by making friends with the person. Everyone can share with the person in need by showing respect, listen to them and you can even donate. If you make friends with them or even just listened to them them it will bring a smile to their faces and that means a lot to the person.
Why it is important to show empathy ? I bet everyone is asking this question, Well it is important to show empathy because if you don’t there would be robberies, fights and even a lot of sirens in the neighborhood. Imagine this..... if there wasn't empathy we would have less people in the world and more people ending up in the hospital, you don’t want to live in a world like that. But if you show empathy people would be brave to go to the mall and get lunch with a friend.

Immersion assembly
This term is term 4 and it is another term of excitement. Then we went to class and saw posters and pictures of patterns and famous paintings so we knew that this term had something to do with art. As that second bell went we hoped in a line and walked to the hall ready for immersion assembly. We sat down and got ready. “I can’t wait to see all of the performances and movies for this term” I thought to myself.
“Give a big round of applause to Team 1” Mr. Burt announced as ge was walking down the middle of the hall. Then the team 1 teachers came up on stage and the music started. As soon as they walked up they were throwing balls and pretending to be at the beach. They were throwing chocolate fish to the audience “Woo Hooo” Cheered the people catching the chocolate fish before they ate it then they finished and the music stopped and they walked down off the stage. “ Give another round of applause to team 1” Then there were other cool and exciting performances all the way up to team 6.
A few minutes after the other teams my favorite team, Team 5 went up on stage with these cool but weird paintings in their hands and a portrait of themselves taped onto their torso’s. When they went up on stage one of the teacher said through the microphone “ Hello we are team 4 and we are learning about the famous artist and paintings you may of seen before” Soon after she said that she went to the first artist Fatu Fe’u the Samoan artist and looked at her art. Her art was Samoan patterns it was a very intricate pattern . And then she rushed over to to another artist named Andy Warhol with his cool pop art. Andy Warhol made a movie 6 hours long with a guy just sleeping for 6 hours, and he also drew the can of tomato soup. Looking at the next con-tester she leaps over to Vincent Van Gogh with the bandaged ear. Vincent Van Gogh drew the famous painting The starry night. “ why has he got a bandage on his head?” I Asked my friend.
And then there were others like Pablo Picasso whose art was the cubism, then there was Monet with the really cool french accent. After that the judge ran over to George Seurat with the pointillism dotted art. And lucky last there was a New Zealand designer who designed things for New Zealand companies. Then we all went back to class and started the new term.

One Summer Morning
This is based on a piece of writing by Witi ihimaera
The tired boy was still sleeping, he didn't want to wake up. He tucked his blanket into his body and didn't get up because it was freezing cold last night. Because it is now summer the sun shines bright through his curtains onto a pile of dirty clothes and the pencil mark on the wall that does not wash off. It wakes him up earlier than he needs to, 5.30 is early enough isn't it? But the beautiful summer sun shines through the evergreen trees and hits the boy’s face. It shows how much he’s grown in the last five or so years. The boy is very disappointed that he has not grow much in the last few months. The boy can comb his hair higher and higher if he wants or he can put thicker shoes on if he wants but he will only be five foot two and a quarter inches tall and he may as well get use to it because his body won’t be in a rush to grow. Anyway he is tall enough for a thirteen-year-old boy, isn't it?

The game Kabaddi
Kabaddi is a game that was developed 4000 years ago in India to develop self-defence skills. It is a game of strength, tackling, defending, speed, agility and aggression.
The game was introduced in the Indian Olympic Games at Calcutta in 1938. In 1950 the All India Kabaddi Federation was created and compiled a set of rules.
Although Kabaddi was invented in India it has been introduced to other countries. People still play the game Kabaddi till this day even students at school play it. It is very popular. There is even a Kabaddi World Cup competition.
To set up the game you first have to make a rectangular field which has lines of about 13 meters long and 10 meters wide. After that you divide the group in half to make two teams and put one team on each side. Ususally there are 7 players in each team. Decide which team attacks first and choose one person to be the Raider. The Raider attacks the opposite team by entering into the opponent's side and has to shout "Kabaddi" over and over again loudly and clearly. While the raider is inside he has to touch one of the opponents. People who are attacked have to try and catch the raider before he crosses back into his territory. If they catch the raider they have to restrain hi until he runs out of breath and stops saying "Kabaddi", The number of successful touches will be the point for the raider's team,
Alternate the team which attacks and repeat the same thing again and again for 15 to 20 minutes. The team which has more points than the other team will win.
Kabaddi is a popular, fun game and is played all around the world. It is a great way to learn skills you can use in other sports.

Ki-O-Rahi description
Ki-O-Rahi, This game is a game of strategy, strength, and accuracy. The strategy is for when you go around the other players. The strength is for when you dive for the middle. The game Ki-O-Rahi was invented thousands of years ago and was made in New Zealand. It was made from a legend Rahi. There is not a celebration of the game K-O-Rahi. The game Ki-O-Rahi is still played till this day and it is very popular. A large team game played between 2 teams, kioma and taniwha on large circular field played for 4 quarters or 2 halves of a set time, teams alternate roles of KIOMA and TANIWHA at 1/2 or 1/4 time. so the game Ki-O-Rahi has been played for quite a long time now and you have to have strength accuracy and strategy. Everyone loves this game and you can thank Rahi, the legend.

Term 3's Assembly !!!
This term is term 3 and our topic is Game On. First up was team 1 and they were all about the Gleason 2014. It was a video about them trying to compete in the Gleason world cup 2014. It was funny because they were assessed by the queen and the queen was hilarious. I liked their performance and the movie they put together. After they were finished it was onto the next team, team 2.
Straight after Mr. Jacobson said “Now it is time for team 2” they stood up and started their awesome act. They were quite the same as team 1 but they were slightly different because they did the Gleason world cup 2014 as well. I liked their one to because they were doing races and pulling the funniest faces. When their performance was finished everyone gave them a round of applause. Then it was time for the next team 3.
Then it just went on and on until it came to the best team, team 5. It was cool because all of our teachers went to different countries. it is cool and fun. As soon as the movie started the music started and it was just amazing. The best thing of the movie is when Miss. Clark went to U.S.A because she saw Kim Kardashian. I would love to see her in person.
Over all the assembly was awesome it was fun seeing all of the performance’s and act’s. I like the topic it is amazing...... Game On !!!!
What I Did In The Holidays !?
In the holidays it was not very cool because in the first week I was sick so I had to stay home and watch T.V or read a book so it wasn't fun at all. The only good thing about being sick is that I didn't have to do work and I didn't have to clean or do anything I just sat around in bed watching T.V so it wasn't so bad. So in the first week it was a sick week for me. It wasn't a good way to start the holidays.
Then in the second week I started to clear up and so I got to do my sports and play with my brother and my niece Chante’ and it was a bit fun. So when I started to feel better we went to the Auckland museum. We packed a lunch for afternoon tea so that when we got hungry we had something to eat.
When we finished at the museum we went to the greenhouse and had a look at all of the interesting and weird flowers and plants. it was cool and we saw a lot of big gold fish. I liked the second week because it was better than being stuck at home doing nothing. Then I went to tennis and played some games with my coach and the other players. it was fun.

Our Planets In The Solar System !
This week we have done another quiz and I am going to talk about the positioning of the planets in the solar system. I hope you can learn a lot about earth and where we are. This week I did not do a visual question I did just did a writing down question.
Well we all know that we are part of the solar system and that we are positioned in the universe. Earth was believed to be the centre of the universe. But by the 21st century, through the invention of high powered telescopes, the overall structures of the visible universe has begun to become clearer. Here is the positioning in our solar system. 1st there is the sun then there is Mercury then Venus then there is our planet Earth. After this comes Mars followed by Jupiter Saturn then Uranus. Afterwards there is Neptune and there is a planet called Pluto which they have recategorised as a dwarf planet.
