At the Auckland museum

This week we went to the Auckland Museum because the year 8's were gone on camp.

Hopping out of the bus we entered the Auckland museum. As we went into the museum we saw a cafe' and a desk. Then we saw people in uniform and I am onto talking about school uniform, yes it was the workers at the Auckland museum.

Shortly after that we had to sit down on the floor or the chairs and listen to the rules they were telling us. Excitedly we herd our teachers say time for lunch so we walked up two flights of stairs to the eating room ready for a quick snack.

Next we went back down to the lounge/ cafe and put our bags in some lockers. We got our task sheets and headed off to the Maori and Pacific galleries and had a good loo at the traditional weapons plants and trees and more. When we finished with our work sheets we got to have free time at the museum. ten minutes after we came back from the Maori and pacific galleries we went to the volcano house and trust me it is scary.

Soon after that we went to the domain and we got to take photo's of the wild life that we found and it was beautiful. Then it was time to go back to school.

Empathy :)

Imagine the world without empathy we would be living in horror or some people not living at all .But Some people don't know what empathy is. For the ones who don't know it is when someone helps another person out if they are sad , For example if someone is getting bullied another person might come along and help them out because they know how they are feeling.

How can you show empathy to one another ?, Well you can start by being nice and kind to the person who is upset and terrified. Also you can help by making friends with the person. Everyone can share with the person in need by showing respect, listen to them and you can even donate. If you make friends with them or even just listened to them them it will bring a smile to their faces and that means a lot to the person.

Why it is important to show empathy ? I bet everyone is asking this question, Well it is important to show empathy because if you don’t there would be robberies, fights and even a lot of sirens in the neighborhood. Imagine this..... if there wasn't empathy we would have less people in the world and more people ending up in the hospital, you don’t want to live in a world like that. But if you show empathy people would be brave to go to the mall and get lunch with a friend.

Immersion assembly

This term is term 4 and it is another term of excitement. Then we went to class and saw posters and pictures of patterns and famous paintings so we knew that this term had something to do with art. As that second bell went we hoped in a line and walked to the hall ready for immersion assembly. We sat down and got ready. “I can’t wait to see all of the performances and movies for this term” I thought to myself.

“Give a big round of applause to Team 1” Mr. Burt announced as ge was walking down the middle of the hall. Then the team 1 teachers came up on stage and the music started. As soon as they walked up they were throwing balls and pretending to be at the beach. They were throwing chocolate fish to the audience “Woo Hooo” Cheered the people catching the chocolate fish before they ate it then they finished and the music stopped and they walked down off the stage. “ Give another round of applause to team 1”  Then there were other cool and exciting performances all the way up to team 6.

A few minutes after the other teams my favorite team, Team 5 went up on stage with these cool but weird paintings in their hands and a portrait of themselves taped onto their torso’s. When they went up on stage one of the teacher said through the microphone “ Hello we are team 4 and we are learning about the famous artist and paintings you may of seen before”  Soon after she said that she went to the first artist Fatu Fe’u the Samoan artist and looked at her art. Her art was Samoan patterns it was a very intricate pattern . And then she rushed over to to another artist named Andy Warhol with his cool pop art. Andy Warhol made a movie 6 hours long with a guy just sleeping for 6 hours, and he also drew the can of tomato soup. Looking at the next con-tester she leaps over to Vincent Van Gogh with the bandaged ear. Vincent Van Gogh drew the famous painting The starry night. “ why has he got a bandage on his head?” I Asked my friend.

And then there were others like Pablo Picasso whose art was the cubism, then there was Monet with the really cool french accent. After that the judge ran over to George Seurat with the pointillism dotted art.  And lucky last there was a New Zealand designer who designed things for New Zealand companies. Then we all went back to class and started the new term.
