One Summer Morning

This is based on a piece of writing by Witi ihimaera

The tired boy was still sleeping, he didn't want to wake up. He tucked his blanket into his body and didn't get up because it was freezing cold last night. Because it is now summer the sun shines bright through his curtains onto a pile of dirty clothes and the pencil mark on the wall that does not wash off. It wakes him up earlier than he needs to, 5.30 is early enough isn't it? But the beautiful summer sun shines through the evergreen trees and hits the boy’s face. It shows how much he’s grown in the last five or so years. The boy is very disappointed that he has not grow much in the last few months. The boy can comb his hair higher and higher if he wants or he can put thicker shoes on  if he wants but he will only be five foot two and a quarter inches tall and he may as well get use to it because his body won’t be in a rush to grow. Anyway he is tall enough for a thirteen-year-old boy, isn't it?
